On October 23, QazaqGeography, together with experts from the Institute of Zoology and the non-profit organization “Wild Nature Without Borders”, held a practical training session on installing camera traps for the staff of the Merke Regional Park.
The event was dedicated to the issues of snow leopard conservation and monitoring. The project was supported by the Pangje Foundation and the international Snow Leopard Network.
The goal of the project is to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of the staff of the Merke Regional Park and the Merke Forestry in monitoring the snow leopard, to raise the awareness of local communities on reducing human–wildlife conflicts through sustainable methods, and to expand the capacity of local leaders in environmental protection activities.
