Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan

The Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Yelbasy is an information and ideological complex of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, N.A. Nazarbayev, which performs the functions of a library, archive, museum, analytical, cultural, educational and scientific research center.
The library was established on March 13, 2014 in order to ensure the functioning of the Personal Library and Personal Archive of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Yelbasy, study the history of the formation and development of Kazakhstan, as well as promote the ideas and initiatives of the First President of Kazakhstan within the country and abroad.

The National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Almaty)

The National Library is the largest scientific and methodological center of libraries in Kazakhstan, the depository of a compulsory copy of printed matters of Kazakhstan, the depository of the Committee for Control in the Field of Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan of candidate and doctoral dissertations in all branches of knowledge defended in Kazakhstan, the depository of abstracts of CIS countries, since 1993 – it is the depository of scientific dissertations and UNESCO publications; since 2005 - it is the depository of literature published under the Cultural Heritage state program; since 2012 – it is the depository of publications of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan in Almaty.

This is one of the oldest libraries that was opened on December 31, 1910.

The book fund of the National Library has more than 6.7 million items. The annual attendance of readers is over 1 million, the book output is about 2 million. 14 specialized halls with 1,500 seats serve readers.

Kazakhstan National Electronic Library

The Electronic State Library Fund was created as part of the state Information Inequality Reducing Program in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The collection of e-copies of books is replenished at the expense of funds provided by many libraries of Kazakhstan, including: the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty, “Otyrar Kitapkhanasy”, the Scientific Center of Gumilyev Eurasian National University, the library of the Presidential Center of Culture, regional libraries, university libraries and personally from the authors: famous scientists, writers, public figures. Books published within the framework of the Cultural Heritage state program became a significant source of admission to the e-depository of KazNEL.

The National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Astana)

The main fund is a part of the unified fund, which is a collection of Kazakhstani and foreign publications, reference, educational and scientific literature. The volume of the fund is 1,446,195 storage units. The fund includes: books, periodicals, audiobooks, electronic publications, maps, music print, postcards, microfiche, as well as Braille books for visually impaired citizens. The special value of the fund is represented by more than 30 private book collections of domestic figures of science, culture and education, outstanding collectors of Kazakhstan.

One of the activities of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the promotion of Kazakhstani books, the creativity of Kazakhstani writers, instilling deep respect for the historical past of the Kazakh people, its cultural heritage, centuries-old traditions and customs that contribute to the education of patriotism, strengthening morality, spirituality, intellectual qualities of the younger generation.

Central Scientific Library of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan

The Central Scientific Library of Gylym Ordasy RSE of the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the largest fund of scientific literature in Kazakhstan, acting as a natural science depository. It contains 5.7 million copies of books and scientific publications.

The library’s funds represent the richest collections of national and foreign publications, dissertations, scientific works, private libraries of scientists of Kazakhstan. The specific composition of materials is extensive: from the originals of manuscripts to modern electronic media.

The Central Scientific Library is the owner of a unique fund of rare books and manuscripts. The fund of rare books has 91 thousand copies, the collection of manuscripts - 22 thousand copies, the collection of Oriental literature for 9.9 thousand copies.

Gumilyov ENU Scientific Library

The Scientific Library is a modern center of information, education and culture. The collection of the scientific library is more than 1.5 million units of storage of educational and scientific literature, periodicals, abstracts and dissertations, manuals, bibliographic indexes, foreign publications on printed and electronic media.

The library’s collection includes the works of scientists of Gumilyov Eurasian National University, materials of international conferences and seminars held at the University, scientific journals and heralds published by the University. The library is a member of the Association of Libraries of Universities of Kazakhstan.

Begalin State Children’s Library

The library was established on May 10, 1951. According to Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 384 of April 03, 1996, the State Children’s Library was named after the classic of Kazakh children’s literature Sapargali Begalin.

Today, Begalin State Children’s Library is the largest children’s library in the country, the national book depository of Kazakh children’s literature. The library has a writer’s corner with his personal belongings (dombra, desk clock, tape recorder/player, chapan), copies of manuscripts, photographs, notebooks with the writer’s notes, shezhire with the writer’s pedigree compiled by his descendants.

The National Electronic Library of the Russian Federation

The National Electronic Library (NEL) is a federal state information system that ensures the creation of a unified Russian electronic knowledge space. The National Electronic Library unites the collections of public libraries of Russia at the federal, regional, municipal levels, libraries of scientific and educational institutions, as well as copyright holders.

The Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine

The Vernadsky National Library is the largest book depository in Ukraine, it contains the richest storehouses of information that can be accessed by anyone who wants to “feel” them.
A member of the Association of European Libraries, the largest book depository in Ukraine was founded on August 02, and according to other sources, on August 15, 1918, and a full-fledged reception of readers began to be held already in August 1920, when the first reading rooms were opened.

The size of the funds is about 15.8 million units of storage.
