In the Aral district of Kyzylorda region there blossomed Borschtchev tulips, which are included in the Red Book of Kazakhstan, reports Zakon.kz.As explained in the Committee on Forestry and Wildlife of the Ministry of Ecology of Kazakhstan, the Borshchov tulips bloomed in the Barsakelmes Nature Reserve.
Borshchov tulips are an endemic plant of the Aral Sea region, named after the Russian botanist Ilya Grigorievich Borshchov. This species of tulip occurs in the Barsakelmes Reserve; it blooms in April-May and bears fruit in May-June. The fruit is a three-celled multi-seeded pod.
"There are more than 3 thousand varieties of tulips in the world. There are 35 species in our country, 18 of them are included in the Red Book of Kazakhstan, including the Borschow tulip," - told the press service of the Forestry and Wildlife Committee.
