A Green School Project is Being Implemented in Pavlodar Region

On April 30, 2025, QazaqGeography, together with environmental experts, held an online seminar for teachers of Secondary School No. 11 in Pavlodar, dedicated to developing and promoting Green School practices in Kazakhstan’s education system. This seminar was part of an environmental project, implemented by QazaqGeography with financial support from Eurasian Resources Group (ERG), aimed at creating an ecologically sustainable environment and promoting a low-carbon culture among schoolchildren.

What Makes This Project Unique?

The "Green School Formation" project, based at the pilot School No. 11 in Pavlodar, is a comprehensive approach to environmental education in Kazakhstan that combines theory with practice. It does not simply introduce students to sustainability principles but also creates practical conditions for implementing environmental solutions in school life.

"Our goal is not just to teach children about the importance of ecology but to provide them with the tools for real change. Integrating green technologies into the educational process, organizing environmental activities and competitions – all of this helps students develop a conscious attitude towards the environment," said Adlet Tkenov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of QazaqGeography.

"For ERG, supporting environmental education is an investment in the future. We believe that fostering ecological awareness among students today will help build a more sustainable society tomorrow," emphasized Serik Shakhazhanov, General Director of Eurasian Resources Group in Kazakhstan.

Key Initiatives of the Project

As part of the project, QazaqGeography:

  • Conducts regular open lessons for students to enhance their understanding of sustainability and environmental impact reduction.
  • Provides a methodological guide for teachers to support ecological education.
  • Develops an electronic booklet "My Green School" highlighting key approaches and successful models of green schools worldwide.
  • Organizes various environmental awareness activities and educational excursions for schoolchildren.
  • Establishes an interactive learning space equipped with demonstration eco-models – mini solar panels, wind turbines, air, soil, and water quality measuring devices, and other teaching tools.

Photo Contest "Our Earth Through the Eyes of Schoolchildren"

The project also included a photo contest for students of grades 5–11, dedicated to Earth Day.
Students submitted entries in the following categories:

  • "The Beauty of My Region" – showcasing Pavlodar’s natural heritage.
  • "Environmental Problems" – raising awareness of ecological challenges in the region.
  • "Contrast" – visually comparing natural harmony and human impact.

The best works are presented in a carousel format, allowing viewers to appreciate the creativity of young minds.

Environmental Education is an Investment in the Future

By fostering responsible attitudes toward nature and sustainable lifestyles, environmental education plays a crucial role in shaping future generations.

QazaqGeography continues its efforts to promote environmental education, helping to build a conscious generation that cares about the planet’s future.
