Saiga numbers in Kazakhstan have reached more than 1.9 million

According to the aerial count of 2023, the increase in the number of saigas in the three populations was 597,000, or 45.3% of the last year's figure. The largest population is the Ural population - 1.13 million individuals, Betpak-dala population - 745,300, and Ustyurt population - 39,700.

We remind, the aerial counting of saigas this year was conducted from April 15 to May 5 by the staff of "Okhotzooprom" together with the regional inspections of the Committee of Forestry and Wildlife and scientific experts of the Kazakhstan Association for the Conservation of Biodiversity (ACBK).
