In 2014, 8 Kazakhstani sites were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as components of the Great Silk Road. The entire project, which also included facilities from China and Kyrgyzstan, amounted to 33 objects: from the Chinese Loyanado of Zhetysu region in Central Asia.
From among Kazakhstani sites - Kayalyk, Karamergen and Talgar settlements in Almaty region, as well as Aktobe, Stepninskoye, Akyrtas, Kulan, Kostobe and Ornek settlements in Zhambyl region.
